QUI SOMMES-NOUS?
Friends of Feral Cats Hawkesbury is devoted to ensuring the ethical treatment of the abandoned, homeless, stray, and feral cats that are being mistreated and/or ignored by society and by the community in which we live. The organization was founded in March of 2009 after a group of volunteers and an investigator from the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals urged the town of Hawkesbury to issue a by-law allowing us to care for and control the feral and stray cat population.
In addition to controlling the population, our mission is to provide food and shelter on a daily basis and to find responsible, loving homes for abandoned pets and young feral kittens. Cats that can't be placed in a home are monitored, sheltered and fed on a daily basis at their colony for the natural extent of their lives.

Les Amis des chats errants Hawkesbury se consacre à assurer le traitement éthique des chats abandonnés, sans-abri, errant, et les chats sauvages qui sont maltraités et / ou ignorés par la société et par la communauté dans laquelle nous vivons. L'organisation a été fondée en mars 2009, après qu'un groupe de bénévoles et un enquêteur de la Société ontarienne pour la prévention de la cruauté envers les animaux ait exhorté la ville de Hawkesbury àa émettre un règlement qui nous permet de soigner et contrôler les chats errants dans la région.
En plus de contrôler la population, notre mission est de fournir de la nourriture et un abri sur une base quotidienne et de trouver des foyers aimants responsables pour les animaux abandonnés et les jeunes chatons nés en colonie. Les chats qui ne peuvent être placés dans un foyer sont surveillés, abrités et nourris sur une base quotidienne à leur colonie pour le reste de leur vie.
TSNR
TSNR stands for Trap, Spay / Neuter, Return. This method of feral cat control is now being used across North America and world-wide as the most humane method that has been proven effective at controlling and stabilizing feral cat colonies. Other methods of controlling feral cat populations have been tried and were proven unsuccessful because they did not solve the initial problem of reproduction. If you remove cats from a colony others will simply move in and take over the food source (small rodents and birds) and the cycle will simply continue leaving yet another colony of feral cats to remove once again. Those methods have been proven ineffective at controlling the feral cat population world-wide and has since then been replaced with the TSNR method.

TSNR signifie Trapper, stériliser et retour. Cette méthode de contrôle de chat errants est maintenant utilisée à travers l'Amérique du Nord et dans le monde entier comme la méthode la plus humaine qui a été prouvé efficace pour contrôler et stabiliser les colonies de chats errants. D'autres méthodes de contrôle des populations de chats errantsont été jugées et se sont révélées infructueuses parce qu'elles ne résolvent pas le problème initial de la reproduction. Si vous supprimez les chats d'une colonie, d'autres vont tout simplement se déplacer et prendre en charge la source de nourriture (petits rongeurs et oiseaux) et le cycle sera tout simplement continué en laissant encore une autre colonie de chats errants à supprimer une fois de plus. Ces méthodes se sont avérées inefficaces pour contrôler la population de chats errantset a depuis été remplacée par la méthode TSNR dans le monde entier.

Please check our adoption listings if you've decided to open your home to a new little friend, or if you have it in your heart to foster and/or care for a cat or kitten in need.

S'il vous plaît vérifier nos listes d'adoption si vous avez décidé d'ouvrir votre maison à un nouveau petit ami, ou si vous avez à coeur pour favoriser et / ou prendre soin d'un chat ou chaton dans le besoin.
